Ambient mixes

Ambient is music made to sit in the background: long tones, slow textures and very little beat, built to change the mood of a room rather than move it. Play a finished set below, or start a ambient set with the AI DJ and it never runs out.

Ambient, answered

What BPM is ambient?

Usually 60 to 90 beats per minute. Beatomat keeps a ambient set inside that window and only pairs records whose keys sound good together.

What does ambient sound like?

Drifting pads, piano and field recordings, mostly without drums, so blends between records can be long and seamless.

Can I mix ambient myself in the browser?

Yes. Open Beatomat Decks: two decks, a three-band EQ, hot cues, loops and effects, and every record shows its tempo and key, so you can see which ones will blend before you try.

Are these mixes free?

Yes. Every finished mix plays free in any browser, without an account. Free includes 30 minutes of mixing a day; the paid plan removes the limit.
